About Doug Strickland
I'm a professional photographer based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, available for freelance assignments for editorial and commercial clients. I specialize in editorial and business portraits, documentary and reportage, and event photography.
I worked as a photojournalist at daily newspapers in Kentucky and Texas before relocating to Chattanooga to tell the everyday stories of my home town. I spent six and a half years as a staff photojournalist at the Chattanooga Times Free Press, where I was part of two Pulitzer Prize Finalist reporting teams.
With a decade of experience in journalism, I have an affinity for building relationships which allows for intimate and personal visual storytelling. As a native of the South, I have a personal connection to the communities and issues I photograph which fuels ethical and empathetic photography of a complicated and diverse region of the U.S.
Centrally located about two hours from Atlanta, Nashville, Knoxville, Huntsville and Birmingham, I'm positioned to cover a wide range of communities across Tennessee, Georgia, and Alabama.
