Beginning Their Journey

Every year on the Spring Solstice, dozens of hikers begin their journey on the Appalachian Trail from Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. Bringing with them only the essentials to keep their pack weights to a minimum, they're about to embark on a 2,190 mile trek that will take an estimated 5 to 7 months to complete.
